Our famous Gliding Adventure Flights ...
Catch a thermal and surf the skies!!
The Byron Shire and its surrounding hinterland boasts some of the most spectacular soaring landscapes in the world!
Enjoy the views all around Byron Bay's spectacular hinterland, with Coorabell Ridge, Mount Warning, Minyon Falls, Main Arm Valley, and the Great Dividing Range in the distance. Even all the way along the east of the Byron Coast all the way up to the Gold Coast!
On one of our Glider joy flights you will see the wonders of this region from the silent wings of a glider, man’s best replica of a soaring bird. Step off the ground and into the skies with one of our suggested joy flights, or choose your own route.
We currently operate two different types of aircraft:
Competition Gliders:
ASK 21 MI and DG 500 M
- DG 500 M: the ultimate competition glider, with a retractable engine for self launching. Once retracted in flight, this aircraft is completely silent. With a 22 meter wingspan, and built in carbon fibre, it is a fantastic performer, ideal for experiencing advanced soaring and aerobatics.
And TRAINER gliders
- SF 25 C and D: the world’s most famous and tested motor gliders, easy to fly, ideal for training, and unbeatable soaring the ridges on Cape Byron and Coorabell. They have side by side seating, and are great for dual flights with your friends or family.
Here are some examples of what you’ll be able to see from the blue skies overhead:
- Our famous Favourite flight offers a birds-eye-view of the most Easterly point of Australia. Soar the ridges of this famous point as you wave to on-lookers from below.
- Whale watching flights are available during migration season and there is no better way to watch these endangered mammals migrate along the Eastern Coast, than from above. - Experience some of the largest pods of dolphins from the air as they swim in their natural environment. - See the large volcanic caldera around Mount Warning, the largest crater in the Southern Hemisphere.
- Glide over Minyon Falls, a sacred Aboriginal site and see the water flow down this 500ft. cliff face to the valley floor.
- Enjoy an exhilarating ridge soar along the Coorabell ridge, site of the first Australian Duration record
- Fly with wedge-tailed eagles and sea eagles.
